In my capacity as Assistant Pastor at Elim Church Selly Oak, one of my responsibilities is to oversee our outreach. For me, this involves two things: running outreach programs and training the church in evangelism
Evangelism is something which many Christians find difficult or scary. For many years I felt the same. Some Christians question whether evangelism is even something that they need to be doing. I also felt that way for a long time. However, in the years I’ve been following Jesus, I’ve become more and more convinced that the message of the Gospel is vitally important for everybody to hear. It’s not enough for us to simply rely on those who are labelled as “Evangelists” to do all the evangelism. Jesus’ command to make disciples of all nations was for every Christian, even those who find the prospect of sharing their faith terrifying.
With all that in mind, I wrote a short book. It’s called Confidence: Evangelism for Non-Evangelists, and it aims to provide simple and practical advice to help Christians to share their faith with the people around them. If you’ve ever struggled with evangelism, or if you’d just like some pointers on how you could be more confident, read the book. It’s available as a free download in eBook form from the resources section of this site.
If you found the book helpful, or you know of someone else who might, feel free to share this post with them so that they can also benefit from it.
